Bomb threat at William Woods was hoax, officials say

A bomb threat Thursday at William Woods University proved to be a hoax.

The university in Fulton evacuated Tucker Dining Hall and Jones Residence Hall during lunch when a note reading, "bomb at 12:30" was found on a cafeteria tray.

Fulton Fire Department, Fulton police and Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to the scene and swept the area but found no sign of an explosive. An all-clear was issued for the campus.

According to Mike Wills, director of residential life and security, there will be an investigation. But because faculty and staff, as well as members of the community, are welcome in the dining hall, the university is not assuming a student left the note.

Lt. Jason Barnes with the Fulton Police Department said the threat of a bomb is a crime, and they are involved in the ongoing investigation.
