The Jefferson City Cantorum, celebrating its 49th year, will be bringing its choral sound to audience members Saturday at its spring concert.

Its performance is centered around the theme of "Home Sweet Home," and the musical group's selections "from spiritual to Broadway to well-known classics" all relate to that idea.

Cantorum's performance songs include "Ain'-a that Good News!," "Swinging with the Saints," "Bring Him Home," "America" from "West Side Story," "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home?," "All Things Bright and Beautiful," and "Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz."

The concert starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Performing Arts Center.

"Home is such a powerful word, though it's for a variety of reasons," Ken Satterfield, Cantorum publicity chairman, said in an email. "It can mean childhood memories, a family gathering, a service person looking to return to the state or the promise of heaven. We've tried to capture that in the 14 selections we are performing with the 'Home Sweet Home' theme."

Suzanne Barner Kitchen will direct the concert. Jan Houser is Cantorum's accompanist. Students of her piano studio will play in the atrium of Miller before the concert from 6-7 p.m. Cantorum will present the 2016 J. Patrick Healey Scholarship to a local high school student with outstanding participation in choral music.

Adult tickets cost $10, $8 for youth and $5 for seniors. A special family rate is $25. Tickets are available for purchase at Samuel's Tuxedos, Hawthorn Bank East, Central Bank West, Capital Music and Linn Shoe Store in Linn. They can also be bought from Cantorum members.

"There's something for everyone," Satterfield said. "I think it will be a great time for the audience."
