Missouri baseball beats Missouri State

COLUMBIA — The Missouri baseball team scored multiple runs in six different innings Tuesday in a 17-9 win against No. 23 Missouri State at Taylor Stadium, snapping a seven-game losing streak.

Nick Lavy and Shane Benes each had three hits, combining for 11 RBI.

Benes’ two-run home run capped off a four-run fourth inning to put the Tigers up 10-1.

Lavy had a two-run shot to left-center field in the seventh, making it 15-5.

Jake Burger recorded three hits for the Bears, including a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Spencer Johnson and Justin Paulsen each homered for Missouri State.

Missouri scored three runs in the second, third and sixth innings, four in the fourth and two each in the seventh and eighth.

The Bears plated single runs in the fourth and eighth, four in the sixth and three in the ninth.

Cole Bartlett (3-4) was the winning pitcher, only allowing one run on two hits in five innings. Hew struck out four and walked one.

Andy Cheray (1-2) took the loss for the Bears, allowing four runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two in two innings.

Missouri got its overall record back to .500 at 21-21. The Bears are 28-11.

Both teams are back in action Friday. Missouri hosts Tennessee at 6 p.m., while Missouri State plays at 5:30 p.m. at Indiana State.
