Missouri softball rallies for win

COLUMBIA — The Missouri softball team pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Texas A&M 2-1 on Sunday night.

No. 19 Missouri got the game’s first run in the bottom of the third when Sami Fagan smacked an RBI single.

Neither team scored again until getting a run apiece in the seventh.

In the bottom of the seventh, Emily Crane hit a one-out double and after Fagan was intentionally walked, Amanda Sanchez drew a walk to load the bases. Chloe Rathburn then ended it with an infield single that scored Crane.

Fagan had two hits and one RBI to lead Missouri’s seven-hit attack.

Danielle Baumgartner and Paige Lowary combined on a five-hitter for the Tigers. Baumgartner worked the first 6 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while walking three and striking out six. Lowary (18-6) got the final out of the top of the seventh on a groundout to get the win.

Missouri (33-12 overall, 8-9 Southeastern Conference) and Texas A&M (33-13, 6-11) will play the final game of their three-game set at 6 p.m. today with the Tigers looking to complete the sweep.
