College Softball: Campbell wins award

Hannah Campbell was recently named the 2016 winner of the Helen Stephens Award by William Woods University.

Campbell (Russellville High School), a softball player at the school, is a junior majoring in communications, with a concentration in public relations and a minor in coaching.

The Stephens Award is the highest honor handed out by the William Woods athletics department. It is presented annually to an outstanding junior student-athlete who has achieved excellence both in the classroom and in intercollegiate athletics. It is presented to a student who demonstrates the talent, discipline and desire that best describes the legacy Stephens, who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics in track and field.

During her three years with the Owls, Campbell has been named to the American Midwest Conference academic all-conference team and an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete in 2014 and 2015. She was also named an academic all-district selection in 2015.

Besides participating in softball, Campbell is a member of the President’s Twenty, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Campus Activities Board and was a member of the 2013-14 Kindness Connection Club.
