UCM sweeps Lincoln in softball

The Lincoln softball team was outhit 11-4 in both games Friday against Central Missouri at Duensing Field, falling 9-1 and 9-0, with both being shortened to six innings due to the run rule.

Tori Nienhueser led off the bottom of the third inning of Game 1 with a home run for Lincoln’s lone run of the day.

Hope McLeod, Macie Kinsey and Jessica Wolken accounted for the other three hits for Lincoln in Game 1.

Ali Jo Rogers had two hits and four RBI for the Jennies, including a three-run home run in the fourth.

Nienhueser, Megan Heimbaugh, Avery Myers and Kiley Kerr had one hit each for the Blue Tigers in Game 2.

Allison Tonyan (9-7) and Emily Robinson (11-10) each picked up a win in the circle for Central Missouri.

Tonyan pitched a complete-game four-hitter in Game 1. She struck out one and walked two. Robinson threw a complete-game four-hitter in Game 2, striking out four and walking one.

Sarah Westhoff (1-12) took the loss for Lincoln in Game 1, while Madison Ragar (3-14) was the losing pitcher in Game 2.

Westhoff allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and three walks while striking out three in 52/3 innings. Ragar also went 52/3 innings, giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and three walks while striking out two.

Kinsey gave up a hit in one-third of an inning in Game 1. Lauren Stamp allowed a hit and struck out a batter in one-third of an inning of relief in Game 2.

The Blue Tigers dropped to 5-48 overall and 4-20 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Jennies are 27-23 overall and 13-11 in the MIAA.

Lincoln closes out the season today by hosting Southwest Baptist (19-33, 10-14). The doubleheader is set to start at 1 p.m.
