Overheated motor causes evacuation at LU residence hall

According to Jefferson City Fire Department reports, crews responded to a report of a structure fire at 711 Lee Drive, Dawson Hall, located on Lincoln University Campus.

Lincoln University Public Safety had received the report of a fire alarm, and found smoke in the basement of the building and on the tenth floor.

All residents were evacuated.

Fire units investigating found a malfunctioning motor for the heating and cooling system.

The smoke was removed from the building and residents were returned to their dorm rooms.

No damage or injuries were reported.
