Lincoln’s Lammers invited to regional tournament

Lincoln golfer Blake Lammers has been selected to play in the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Central/Midwest Regional, the NCAA announced Friday.

The tournament will be May 2-4 in Allendale, Mich., with Grand Valley State hosting the event. A total of 20 teams will take part in the regional.

Lammers, who is coming off an individual title at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men’s Golf Championship with a three-round total of 6-under 210, becomes the first Blue Tiger invited to an NCAA regional tournament since current Blue Tigers coach Aaron Murphy played in the 2009 South Central Regional.

Lammers, who was named to the All-MIAA team earlier this week, joins Tate Williamson of Northeastern State, Taylor Lansford of Missouri Southern and Mason Banger of Harding as players selected for the regional as individuals.

The top five teams and top two players not with a qualifying team from each regional will advance to play in the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championship, which will be played at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colo., from May 17-21.

The national championship tournament will be hosted by Metropolitan State University of Denver.
