Lengthy layoff fails to slow Hornets’ offense

IBERIA, Mo. — A break of almost two weeks without a game didn’t have any affect on the St. Elizabeth bats.

Playing for the first time in 13 days, the Hornets pounded out 11 hits while claiming a 12-5 win against the Iberia Rangers on Thursday.

Tanner Prenger led the outburst by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI.

Also for St. Elizabeth, Dakota Kemna had a single, two doubles and four runs scored and Wyatt Stiles had two hits, including a homer, and three RBI.

Preston Otto pitched the first five innings to get the win. He allowed four earned runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out one. Alex Goeller worked the final two frames, allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out two.

St. Elizabeth (2-3) will host Linn on Tuesday.
