Two businesses temporarily lose liquor license

The Jefferson City Liquor Control Board has suspended the liquor licenses of two businesses that failed recent compliance checks.

The board voted to suspend the license of S&S Petroleum, doing business as JC Mart at 105 W. Dunklin St., for one day, May 25.

The board also voted to suspend the license of Iswarbapa Inc., doing business as XPress Liquor & Smokes at 510 Ellis Blvd., for three days, May 25-27.

Both businesses have 30 days to appeal the board’s decisions.

According to police reports, officers were conducting alcohol compliance checks on April 6, using an underage youth to purchase liquor.

At both businesses, when the youth made the purchase, the clerk on duty failed to ask for an ID for proof of age.

This is the first violation for S&S and the second for Iswarbapa.
