Lammers wins MIAA men’s golf title

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A one-stroke lead turned into a seven-stroke win for Lincoln’s Blake Lammers on Wednesday in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men’s Golf Championships.

Lammers entered the final round up a single stroke, but fired a 4-under 68 at Tiffany Greens Golf Club to be the only golfer to finish the three-round event under par (6-under 210).

Lane Pauls of Fort Hays State and Ryan Dyck of Central Oklahoma tied for second after shooting 1-under 71s on Wednesday.

Central Oklahoma won the team title by nine strokes ahead of Lindenwood. Central Missouri placed third, just one stroke out of second. Lincoln took ninth in the 11-team tournament with a 391.

Deaven Vincent tied for 36th (235), Cody Shaw placed 44th (240), Drew Geritz placed 51st (253) and Jacob Womack ended 52nd (258) for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln will close out its season at the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship starting May 5. Lammers is the defending individual champion. The three-day event will be played on the Ryder Course at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

In the MIAA women’s tournament at Swope Memorial Golf Course, the Blue Tigers had three players competing.

Hannah Berendzen finished in a tie for 30th at 280 for Lincoln, while Lauren McHenry was 42nd at 282 and Rylee Glenn was 47th at 293.

Northeastern State was first with a 306. Central Oklahoma was second at 321, with Lindenwood third at 324.
