Track and Field: Blair Oaks at Sedalia Smith-Cotton

SEDALIA — The Blair Oaks track and field teams competed Tuesday in the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Invitational.

The girls only completed 13 of the 19 events before rain ended the event. The boys got through 14 events.

Jason Otto, Colin Prenger, Kaleb Cox and Josh Henson each won an event for the boys team.

Otto won the 1,600-meter run (4:50) while Cole Brenneke placed third (4:53).

In the triple jump, Prenger’s leap of 38-10 earned him first place.

Cox won the discus (138-10) while Hensen took first in the javelin (126-9).

Ben Thomas finished runner-up in the pole vault (10).

The 4x800-meter relay team of Brenneke, Adam McCauley, Bo Thomas and Otto placed second (9:00).

Kallie Kerperin was the lone winner for the girls team, placing first in the javelin (85-4).

Sarah Ferrell and Alexa Stegemann each had a runner-up finish, with Ferrell placing second in the triple jump (32-4) and Stegemann ending up second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.5).

The 4x100-, 4x200- and 4x800-meter relay teams all placed third. Ferrell, Olivia Seig, Stegemann and Jessie Holstein ran the 4x100-meter relay in 54.27. Ferrell, Seig, Holstein and Kayla Jones finished the 4x200-meter relay in 1:55.1. Emily Yaeger, Kristina Wortmann, Sarah Wolken and Taylor Scott ran the 4x800-meter relay in 11:02.

Cassie Twehus placed third in the shot put (33-7 1/2), while Stegemann and Kailey Wieberg tied in the long jump (13-6).

Blair Oaks will compete Tuesday at Fatima.
