State Tech named Missouri's "best' 2-year college

Best Colleges says State Technical College of Missouri is the best two-year college in Missouri.

The Linn-based school tops a recently released list of the top 19 two-year schools in Missouri.

In a news release announcing the honor, State Tech President Donald Claycomb said: "To be ranked number one in the two-year sector, based on national data, is an honor for the entire State Technical College of Missouri community."

Claycomb said the honor especially is important when looking at Best Colleges' rankings of the top four-year Missouri schools, with Washington University, St. Louis; College of the Ozarks, Branson; and Truman State University, Kirksville, as the top three.

Best Colleges (www.bestcolleges.com) said more than 140,000 students in Missouri currently attend the state's 55 public and private two-year institutions.

State Tech's fall 2015 enrollment was 1,274 students, representing 86 percent of Missouri counties and nine other states.

The ranking are compiled using the latest information from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and College Navigator databases - both are considered as reputable sources maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics.
