COLUMBIA - For the first time since joining the league, the Missouri softball team was swept by a Southeastern Conference foe Sunday as Georgia completed a three-game sweep with a 6-3 win Sunday.
Georgia, the 10th-ranked team in the country, never trailed the 14th-ranked Tigers in the contest.
The Bulldogs were up 2-1 after one inning, as Missouri's run came on an RBI groundout by Sami Fagan.
Georgia added single tallies in the second and third innings before Missouri got a run in the bottom of the third to cut it to 4-2, with the run coming home when Taylor Gadbois reached on a fielder's choice.
The Bulldogs added single runs in the fourth and sixth to go up 6-2. The Tigers' final run came in the sixth thanks to an RBI single by Amanda Sanchez.
Sanchez ended up with two hits and one RBI, while Gadbois added a pair of hits.
Georgia outhit Missouri 9-7 and won despite committing four errors.
Paige Lowary (14-5) pitched all seven innings for Missouri, giving up six earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out one.
Missouri is now 26-10 overall and 5-7 in the SEC, while Georgia improves to 34-8 and 8-4.
Missouri hosts Wichita State in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
