Osage County weighs in on tax issues

In Osage County, Westphalia Special Road District voters continued their current tax levy, $0.1725, for a four-year period through Aug. 31, 2020, with 41 "yes" votes and 10 "no" votes.

Westphalia city voters approved a proposal to cancel an election whenever the number of candidates equals the number of seats to be filled, by a vote of 40-11.

Linn voters kept their sales tax on vehicles, trailers, boats and outboard motors purchased outside Missouri, with 28 votes in favor of discontinuing the tax and 109 votes to keep it.

Linn voters also approved a use tax equal to the city sales tax, which currently is 1 percent. The vote was 77 for the tax and 59 against it.
