ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis city leaders say eminent domain will be pursued if needed to amass a large swath of land for the city's quest to lure a federal spy agency's new 3,100-employee regional headquarters.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1KP7TRl) says St. Louis officials announced Wednesday the city continues negotiating with a developer to acquire the north St. Louis acreage.
A spokeswoman for Mayor Francis Slay says the city will only acquire properties if the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency selects the St. Louis site.
The defense and intelligence agency also is considering two St. Louis County sites and a land tract adjacent to Scott Air Force Base in southwestern Illinois.
More than 3,000 jobs are at stake as the little-known agency looks to move from its St. Louis location near the Anheuser-Busch brewery.
