Fatima wins boys and girls cross country crowns at Invitational

FULTON, Mo. - The Fatima Comets and Lady Comets swept the team titles Saturday at the Fulton Cross County Invitational.

On the girls side, Fatima placed four runners in the top 10 individuals to score 46 points. Anna Massman was first for the Lady Comets, with teammate Brianna Haller taking second. Katelyn Vanderfeltz and Madison Day were ninth and 10th, respectively.

The Fatima boys finished with 44 points to outdistance a field of 25 teams. Alex Krieg paced the Comets by finishing fourth, while teammate Cody Huhn finished ninth.

The Helias Lady Crusaders finished second, while the Crusaders were third in the Invitational.

The Lady Crusaders, who finished with 52 team points, had two runners in the top 10. Kayla Yanskey was fourth and Abby Hake finished seventh.

Elliot Knernschield of the Crusaders finished second to pace the boys, who totaled 129 points.

The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons finished eighth in the Invitational with 226 points, while the Falcons took 11th place on the boys side with 336 points.

Taylor Scott led the Lady Falcons by finishing 19th, while Jason Otto paced the Falcons with his fifth-place finish.

The Linn boys, led by a 14th-place finish by Cole Stephens, were fifth as a team with 178 points.
