Legendary country and gospel group to perform in Eldon

For a country and gospel quartet that continued its popularity and success for 40 years, 2015 has been one of The Oak Ridge Boys' best.

As The Oak Ridge Boys celebrate their many successes in 2015, they continue to do what has led them to those important accolades in their career: performing their notable music to their fans. At 8 p.m. Saturday evening, they will return to Lake of the Ozarks to perform as part of a three-event Fall Fest Concert Series at Shawnee Bluff Vineyards in Eldon.

After its wide release May 26, The Oak Ridge Boys' latest album, "Rock of Ages, Hymns and Gospel Favorites" broke Billboard Christian Album Top 10 in June. The album, which is an Oaks' twist on classic hymns, also secured two 2015 Gospel Music Association (GMA) DOVE Award nominations - a nod for "Bluegrass/Country Album of the Year" and "Country Song of the Year" for "Sweet Jesus," which was an original tune co-written by Kenny Vernon and country music star Merle Haggard, who joined the group for the recording of the song.

This summer, The Oak Ridge Boys also received two important military-focused awards: the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the Patriot Award from the American Legion.

Yet, the icing on the cake came with the announcement in May The Oak Ridge Boys will join the ranks of many of their favorite artists as they are inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame Oct. 25 in Nashville.

"Being a part of that special family of artists is a tremendous honor and very humbling thing," said Richard Sterban, Oak Ridge Boys bass since 1972.
