Your Opinion: Dysfunction in government

Dear Editor:

Mr. Schroeder had me for most of his letter to the editor on Sept. 13 in support of law enforcement until he ignored the Constitution of the United States of America. We have laws in place that, if allowed to be followed, will suffice. Obama does not and can not "make" law with his pen, only Congress can. And there, folks, has been our problem for the past six going on seven years!

Both Obama and the Supreme Court have been making law. Our gutless legislatures, both Republican and Democratic, have been allowing them to do so. A simple lesson in civics plainly points out who makes law, Congress. The Supreme Court interprets it as it concerns the Constitution, not their personal opinions or politics, simply does it follow the Constitution.

It's as simple as that, folks. Now what about that is so hard for a supposedly constitutional scholar such as Obama? As far as the Supreme Court, it has become solely and completely political and should be treated as such. They should be elected, not appointed.

We have illegals holding public office, no ID to vote and 18-year-old kids voting (if prior or in the military is an exception).

You see, you really do get the government you deserve.
