CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Kei Kamara scored in the 21st and 26th minutes and the Columbus Crew held on to beat the Philadelphia Union 2-1 on Saturday night.
The Crew (12-9-8) took the lead when a Union defender deflected Harrison Afful's cross from the right flank to Kamara, who finished with a header from near the far post. They were in nearly the same places 5 minutes later when Kamara tapped in Afful's low untouched cross with his right foot his MLS-leading 20th goal of the season.
The Union (8-15-6), who entered the game a point out of an Eastern Conference playoff position, pressed their attack in the second half, creating many chances, including C.J. Sapong's 66th-minute goal.
But Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark had five saves after the break to preserve the win.
SOUNDERS 1, EARTHQUAKES 1, TIE
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Obafemi Martins scored on an over-the-shoulder volley in the 82nd minute and Seattle salvaged a tie with San Jose.
The Sounders (13-13-3) moved into fourth place in the Western Conference.
San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham initially made the diving save on Zach Scott's header, but it caromed in front of Martins, who converted the left-footed shot with his back to the net. Martins has five goals in his last five games and 12 this season.
Fatai Alashe put the Earthquakes (11-11-6) in the lead in the 70th minute, scoring his second career goal on his own bobblehead night on a header in the left corner of the goal.
IMPACT 0, GALAXY 0, TIE
CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Evan Bush had four saves and posted his fifth shutout of the season to help Montreal tie Los Angeles.
The Impact (9-11-5) had a pair of early scoring opportunities and another late in the match, but Donovan Ricketts, who finished with five saves for the Galaxy, used acrobatic saves and great positioning to thwart the Montreal attacks.
The Galaxy (13-8-8) are winless, and scoreless, in their last two matches after averaging 4.3 goals during a four-game winning streak that ended with a 1-0 loss as San Jose on Aug. 28.
FC DALLAS 2, NEW YORK CITY FC 1
FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Michel fed Tesho Akindele for a goal and added another later in the first half and FC Dallas beat expansion New York City FC.
Michel found Akindele along the right sideline with a long pass and he carried the ball into the penalty area and unleashed a shot off his right foot that found the upper left corner in the 45th minute. Michel then bent a corner kick cleanly past goalkeeper Josh Saunders in the fourth minute of extra time to give FC Dallas (14-8-5) a 2-0 lead.
Patrick Mullins left-footed a penalty kick into the lower left corner in the 70th minute to pull NYC (7-14-7) within a goal. After a steal near midfield, Mullins lofted a pass from the top of the penalty area toward Ned Grabavoy and Atiba Harris was called for the penalty.
REAL SALT LAKE 3, DYNAMO 1
HOUSTON (AP) - Javier Morales had a goal and an assist to help Real Salt Lake beat Houston.
Real Salt Lake (9-11-8) snapped an eight-game road losing streak, and pulled even with Houston (9-11-8) for eighth place in the Western Conference. Both are six points back of Portland for the final playoff spot.
Morales scored just before halftime, and Devon Sandoval scored in the 51st minute. Houston's Brad Davis scored off a penalty kick in the 65th minute to make it 2-1.
Juan Manuel Martinez scored in the 68th minute off an assist from Morales. Martinez's right-footed shot from just outside the goalie box went over goalkeeper Tyler Deric's head and into the back of the net. It was Martinez's first MLS goal in just his second game.
D.C. UNITED 1, RAPIDS 1, TIE
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Steve Birnbaum scored a late goal to help D.C. United tie Colorado.
The United (13-10-6) had lost a season-high three consecutive games, yet pulled even with the New York Red Bulls atop the Eastern Conference with 45 points. The Rapids (8-10-10) remain at the bottom of the Western Conference, one point back of Real Salt Lake and Houston.
Birnbaum scored on a header in the 87th minute off an assist from Fabian Espindola. Goalkeeper Clint Irwin blocked Birnbaum's shot to defender Drew Moor. Moor attempted to head the ball out of the goal, but the ball hit the crossbar and into the net.
Bobby Burling scored in the 28th minute for the Rapids.
