Blair Oaks slugs 20 hits in win against Fatima

WESTPHALIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons cranked out 20 hits to defeat Fatima 17-8 and stay undefeated Friday.

Payton Staggs went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI to lead Blair Oaks at the plate. Macyn Wilbers went 4-for-5, Carli Buschjost was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Emilee Jones had two hits and three RBI, Sydney Wilde had two hits and drove in two, and Hannah Schroeder had two hits and an RBI. Mackinnley Hamacher was had a hit and an RBI in her only at-bat, and Natalie Mudd and Nicole Otto each had a hit and an RBI. Megan Mitchem had a hit and drove in two.

Mitchem also got the win, pitching 52/3 innings and allowing eight runs - three earned - on nine hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Staggs closed out the game, allowing two hits, a walk and a strikeout.

For Fatima, Erica Fick had two hits and three RBI, Erin Eichholz had two hits and two RBI, and Sammey Bunch notched two hits.

Makayla Buscher took the loss.

The Lady Falcons and Lady Comets met in sectional play last season, with Fatima going on to win the state championship.

Blair Oaks (4-0) hosts Helias at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Fatima (4-3) plays Tuesday at Tuscumbia.

In JV action, the Lady Comets won 1-0. Paige Luebbering and Nicole Bryant had Blair Oaks' only two hits.

McKenna Kliethermes struck out seven for the Lady Falcons.
