Jefferson City man charged in attack on woman

A Jefferson City man is charged with second-degree domestic assault and second-degree sodomy for an incident that occurred early Thursday morning.

Terry Russell, 36, is also charged with possession of marijuana.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Russell showed up intoxicated at a residence on North Polk Street and assaulted the female victim with his hands, fist and work boots. He also choked her with his hands.

The victim suffered two black eyes and had bruising consistent with her story on her arms, legs and a red mark on her neck.

Russell told police he pushed the victim away from him as she was trying to assault him and didn't know how the victim was injured.

Authorities said Russell has an extensive criminal history with several pending cases against him.
