78 animals removed from property in Warren County

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Nearly 80 animals are now being cared for at the Humane Society of Missouri facilities in St. Louis and Union after being rescued from a property in Warren County.

The Humane Society's Animal Cruelty Task Force removed 78 animals that included dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, goats, a potbellied pig and a cockatoo Monday. The owner agreed to surrender the animals. Officials say they were living in filthy conditions inside trailers.

No charges have been filed but an investigation of the owner is ongoing. The Humane Society was contacted after concerns were raised by Warren County deputies.
