Your Opinion: Rein in abuses

Dear Editor:

Is there any limit to the abuses we will accept from a federal government that has grown far beyond its constitutionally endowed power?

Obama's Justice Department decided that no one did anything illegal when the IRS attack dogs, headed by Lois Learner, went after conservative groups.

Sanctuary cities can ignore federal law and get away with it but should anyone (Sheriff Joe and others) try to remove illegals from their states the full wrath of Obama will fall on them.

Hillary Clinton claims the VA scandal has been blown all out of proportion. On April 30, 2014, CNN reported that at least 40 United States Armed Forces veterans died while waiting for care at just the Phoenix Veterans Health Administration facility. A June 9, 2014, internal VA audit stated that 120,000 veterans were left waiting or never got care and that schedulers were pressured to use unofficial lists or engage in inappropriate practices to make the waiting times appear more favorable. Every one of the VA's 470 senior executives were rated at least "fairly successful" over the four years prior to this scandal breaking. They were paid $2.4 million in bonuses in just one year.

In February 2015 Robert McDonald, the replacement Secretary of Veterans Affairs, claimed that 60 employees had been fired over the scandal. Later he admitted that only 8 employees had lost their jobs. During a January 2015 conversation with a homeless man he claimed he was in the Army Special Forces. (CBS taped it.) Later he admitted that he "misspoke," lied. The New York Times has since reported that as few as three people lost their jobs over the scandal. Does anyone vet these people? Are liars like this the best Obama can find to put into these positions? I can't find that anyone went to jail for falsifying federal records so that they could be paid fat bonuses.

No one will find a "smoking gun" linking Clinton to significant wrongdoing in Benghazi. She and Bill are liars supreme, and her destruction of government records was thorough. What I hope we learn, eventually, is why a rescue attempt was never initiated. It is beyond comprehension that our nation's leaders left these men to die when no one knew how long they could hold out.

There are many, many more examples. It is far past time to rein in the feds.
