Crews work to restore electricity service in Bow, N.H., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010. A large pine tree that had snapped at the base during a windstorm earlier in the week took down wires and knocked several road signs askew.

Gun shots were fired in the 300 block of West 9th street in Fulton at approximately 12:42 p.m., but no injuries or deaths were reported, according to a press release issued from the Fulton Police Department late Monday afternoon.

Initial public reports indicated the shots were fired north of Westminster College, but spokesperson Jennifer Bondurant told the Fulton Sun that was not the case, emphasizing in two separate interviews the shots occurred "several blocks from campus."

Bondurant said the college was never placed on lockdown, but campus security did increase their presence on the north side of the school perimeter. There was no campus-wide notification of students issued.

A drive around the campus by Fulton Sun reporters indicated no unusual activities; students and visitors were observed walking freely about campus and adjacent city sidewalks.

The Fulton police press statement released shortly after 4 p.m. said that two shots were fired at a gold passenger car that left the scene of the incident.

Two as yet to be identified shell casings were located at the scene, but the vehicle-with two bullet holes in it-was not found until a short time later. The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old male from Fulton, "was unaware that his vehicle had been shot at," according to the statement.

The driver of the shot car was not identified by name in the press statement, and no arrests had been made in connection with the incident as the Fulton Sun was preparing for press Monday evening.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Fulton Police Department at (573) 592-3100 or Crime Stoppers at (573) 592-2474.
