Your Opinion: Levy taxes, surcharges on political activity

Dear Editor:

It is election season and with it comes more talk about campaign finance reform.

Why not just tax the campaign funds of all candidates holding or running for any and all elected office, let's say at 20 percent.

We might also consider adding a government surcharge of 20 percent to all lobbyist expenditures and to all presidential campaign expenditures made by either a candidate or an entity promoting a presidential candidate in primary and general election within the state of Missouri.

The funds could help maintain some highways and bridges or go to support educating our young.

And how about a government surcharge of $10 per number dialed for each robocall about a political campaign?
