Railwood Golf Club in Holts Summit will scale back from 18 holes to nine at the end of this year, said General Manager Jim Johnson.
"The owner just decided that it was time to do something different with part of the property," Johnson said.
For the most part, the nine-hole course will consist of what is currently the course's back nine, with only one major hole change.
"It's a pretty minor renovation, and if people come out and look around they'll see construction starting soon," Johnson said. "We're just going to use some of the other holes that were there and kind of reroute a little."
The current course will remain open and playable during the renovation, and the new nine-hole course should be complete by the beginning of 2016, he added.
