Jefferson City quarterback Gunnar See and wide receiver Adam Huff combined for 18 points against then-undefeated Battle Friday night at Adkins Stadium.

Battle scored 14 total points.

The Jays (7-1) were victorious in a 44-14 rout, giving Battle (7-1) its first lost since a year ago today, when the Jays defeated a Spartan team that rattled off 14 straight wins on their way to a program-first Class 5 title.

The junior connection between See and Huff hooked up once in the first quarter and twice in the third quarter for long touchdown plays.

In the first, they connected from 72 yards to give the Jays an early two-score lead. With five minutes to play in the third, See found Huff down the middle of the field for a 90-yard score, and then again for 70 yards just under a minute to play in the third to push the lead to 30-7.

See finished 14-of-18 for 374 yards, while connecting with Huff six times for 247 yards and three scores. Huff now has nine touchdowns on the season.

Huff continues to reap of the benefits of opponents double-teaming senior wide receiver Daniel Ellinger.

"They ended up matching up one-on-one with Adam Huff, and that's dangerous," Jefferson City coach Ted LePage said. "You got to be careful what you wish for because not many teams can cover Daniel one-on-one."

The Jays defense blanked the Spartans through the first half and most of the third quarter, until the Spartans scored on a Brennen DeMarco 17-yard run with 2:46 left in the third. The score came after See and Battle quarterback Brevinn Tyler traded interceptions. DeMarco scored three plays after See's interception set up the Spartans inside the Jays' red zone.

In the fourth, Battle put together a drive of 15 plays and 80 yards, capped off with a Jaevon McQuitty 11-yard touchdown grab to shorten the lead to 30-14.

It wouldn't be enough, as the Jays reeled off six plays with Denzel Wilson picking up most of yardage in the latter parts of the contest. Joseph Bustamante picked up his second touchdown of the game with a 30-yard rush to put the game out of Battle's touch.

Wilson - who rushed for 82 yards on 25 carries - capped off the scoring with a 9-yard run with 3:24 left in the game.

Battle went three-and-out to send the Jays into victory formation for the seventh this season.

Senior J.T. Bohlken converted on a 31-yard field goal early in the third quarter after missing on attempts from 34 and 35 yards out.

The Jays will host Rockhurst (4-4) next week for the final game of the regular season. Rockhurst defeated Helias Friday, 35-25.
