LINN, Mo. - The Linn Lady Wildcats closed out the regular season Tuesday with a 6-4 loss to the Eugene Lady Eagles.
Lyndsi Vaughan had a three-run home run for Linn, Kirsten Steinbeck had a single, double and one RBI, and Hayley Dorton had a pair of hits.
Lauren Kaullen took the loss in relief of Vaughan. Kaullen worked the final 3 2/3 innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits while striking out one.
Vaughan pitched the first 3 1/3 and gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out four.
Linn (20-2) returns to action Thursday in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 10 Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats have a first-round bye and play the winner of today's game between third-seeded South Callaway and sixth-seeded Hermann.
