Jail garage door repairs approved

The Cole County Commission has voted to approve an emergency provision to make repairs on one of the garage doors at the county jail.

The springs on the door that goes into the alley leading out to Monroe Street have failed and need to be replaced.

The department transfers prisoners in and out of this door and also takes deliveries through it.

A county ambulance was also housed on that side of the building, and because of the door problems, that ambulance is being housed at the ambulance base on Southridge Drive. It will come back to the jail once the door is fixed.

The cost of the repairs is a little over $7,600.

Commissioners hope the repairs will be done later this month.
