Centertown woman gets probation for DWI with child in car

A Mid-Missouri woman was placed on two years unsupervised probation for pleading guilty to driving while under the influence of methamphetamine with a 4-year-old child in her vehicle in April.

Angela Ward, 35, Centertown, was charged with misdemeanor DWI and failure to secure a child in a proper restraint.

As part of her probation, she must be on the electronic monitoring program for 10 days, have an ignition interlock device placed on her vehicle and complete court-ordered treatment programs.

A charge of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child was dismissed.

Cole County court documents show Ward was pulled over in the 2100 block of U.S. 50 West.

The child was not properly restrained in a child safety seat and was lying in the back seat, half out of the car seat, when the officer went to the vehicle.

When Ward was pulled over she also was dealing with a diabetic emergency and a blood sugar level of approximately 500.

Ward was also speeding and was not staying in her driving lane.
