Missouri volleyball makes NCAA Tournament

The University of Missouri volleyball team earned an at-large berth Sunday in the NCAA Tournament.

Missouri is one of four teams assigned to the regional hosted by Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. Kansas will host the regional after being seeded ninth in the tournament.

Missouri will face Missouri State in the first round at 4 p.m. Thursday in the event. With a win, Missouri would advance to take on the winner of the Kansas-Furman match in Friday's second round.

The winner of the foursome will advance to the San Diego Regional Tournament on Dec. 11-12. The NCAA Tournament championship matches are scheduled for Dec. 17-19 in Omaha, Neb.

Missouri wrapped up the regular season with a 26-5 record, including going 14-4 to finish second in the Southeastern Conference.

Missouri has now advanced to its 12th NCAA Tournament in 16 seasons under head coaches Wayne and Susan Kreklow.

Missouri State (24-10) finished third in the Missouri Valley Conference this season. The Bears will be making their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance.

Missouri and Missouri State have not played since the 2005 NCAA Tournament, a match won by the Tigers.

Kansas (26-2) finished second in the Big 12 Conference this season. Furman (21-8) qualified by winning the Southern Conference Tournament title.
