ST. LOUIS (AP) - Logan Hinck threw for one touchdown and Marcus Harris rushed for another to lead Kearney to a 17-14 win over Webb City in the Class 4 state championship game Friday at Edward Jones Dome.
Webb City, the five-time defending state champion, had won its previous 42 games and carried an 88-1 streak into the contest.
Kearney (14-1) captured its fourth championship and first since 2009.
Kearney safely Ethan Luft recovered a Webb City fumble in the end zone with 10 seconds left to seal the victory.
Hinck hit Aaron Mello on an 8-yard scoring toss the first quarter.
Harris scored on a 1-yard run late in the third quarter for a 17-7 lead.
Webb City (14-1) climbed to within three on a 3-yard run by quarterback Tyson Roderique with 4:22 left in the game,
Keaton Burroughs rushed for 197 yards for Webb City.
