Blue Springs South beats Christian Brothers in Class 6 title

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Adam Cofield rushed for 149 yards and scored four times to lead Blue Springs South to a 37-28 win over Christian Brothers College in the Class 6 state championship game on Friday at Edward Jones Dome.

Cofield scored three times on the ground and also caught a 67-yard TD pass from quarterback Noah Nigro.

Blue Springs South (14-0) claimed its third title by beating defending champion CBC (13-1), which had a 27-game winning streak snapped.

Nigro hit on 8 of 12 passes for 195 yards. Tre Bryant rushed for 186 yards and three scores for CBC.

CBC led 21-6 in the first half before Blue Springs South erupted for three third-quarter scores to take 30-21 lead. A 15-yard TD run by Cofield capped off a 21-point blitz in 10 minutes, 18 seconds.
