Jefferson City's Golden LivingCenter reintroduced its new and improved therapy services area last week.

The West Truman Boulevard skilled nursing facility began work in September to add nine private rehabilitation rooms in a designated therapy services hallway.

"We have never had private rehab rooms; they've always been semi-private," said Sarah Jones, business development representative for Golden LivingCenters' Mid-Missouri homes. "That will allow a short-term resident, like someone with a knee replacement, their own private room and obviously the amenities that come with it."

The remodel involved condensing the nursing facility's Alzheimer's unit from its original two-hallway, 36-bed capacity to 18 beds, freeing up a hallway for the therapy services expansion.

"That really isolates the short-term residents to their own little niche so they don't feel like they're in the skilled nursing setting," Jones said.

The therapy expansion also frees up space for the Golden LivingCenter's Nautilus brand rehabilitation equipment, as the previous therapy setup did not allow for all five pieces of the equipment.

The Golden LivingCenter commemorated the remodel's completion Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce.
