Probation granted in music venue theft

A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to charges in connection with breaking into a live music venue in July.

Jayway Theson, 18, of 2305 Southridge Drive, was charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree property damage.

As part of his probation, he was ordered to complete 60 hours of community service.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows an anonymous caller told police Theson was at The Mission, 915 E. High St., breaking a side window to gain access.

Theson entered the business and went behind the bar, where he removed the cash register, a laptop computer, a tablet and a bottle of liquor.

Theson attempted to run out the front door when officers entered through the back door, but he quickly surrendered.
