Possibility of light snow in Mid-Missouri forecast

Strong low pressure is moving across Missouri, according to the National Weather Service.

Colder air working into the low pressure overnight may begin to turn rain to snow for northern sections of Missouri, primarily north of U.S. 36.

While only minor accumulations are expected from extreme northern Missouri into central Illinois, much heavier snowfall is forecast for parts of Iowa and northern Illinois, and early season winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings are in effect for these areas into Saturday.

Windy and much colder weather is expected for Missouri and southern Illinois on Saturday, with light rain possibly mixed with some light snow in some locations in central Missouri, including Jefferson City, Fulton, Columbia, California and the Lake of the Ozarks.

A chance of rain continues, possibly mixing with snow after 9 a.m. Saturday, then gradually ending. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a temperature falling to around 30 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a northwest wind 11 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Mostly clear, with a low around 20 on Saturday night. Sunny on Sunday with a high in the mid-40s.
