Your Opinion: Proud to recognize young volunteers

Dear Editor:

We are very proud to give recognition to everyone who volunteered and took part in the event sponsored by Operation Bugle Boy on Nov. 5 for Veterans Appreciation Night honoring our military veterans and on Nov. 6 paying Tribute to Heroes in honor of our law enforcement,

Firefighters and EMS personnel who are our dedicated heroes. Many local high school students and teachers volunteered and dedicated time to help set up and serve at these events.

The schools represented were Jefferson City High, Helias, Calvary Lutheran, Blair Oaks and The Lighthouse Preparatory. Also, kudos to the Boy Scouts, Navy Sea Cadets and Police Explorers.

We are very proud of the approximately 100 students for stepping up to help without complaining. This was a wonderful opportunity and privilege they embraced to share time with the veterans and their experiences.

Each student proudly served their community with integrity and went above and beyond to share the duties so diligently. These events were a huge success and we should all be happy to know that all students are not irresponsible.

Often we only hear of the bad that children do.We place these young adults in high regard for their dedicated service to all our wonderful heroes.

We also thank Chris and Kay Jarboe for their devoted leadership in surrounding the community and rallying to make these most honorable events possible.
