Lincoln women put up 94 in basketball victory

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers seem to be enjoying the new 10-minute, four-quarter rule in the women's college game.

Scoring is at a premium for Lincoln after Saturday's 94-86 victory against Henderson State in the SBU Classic, making them 2-0 on the season.

On Friday, the Blue Tigers scored 81 points on their way to a three-point victory against Ouachita Baptist.

Lincoln's Dorian Briggs led the way with 24 points and six assists. Zuri Hill, who had 25 points the night before, posted her second straight double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Henderson State (0-2) jumped out to a 24-20 lead after the first quarter. The Blue Tigers then finished the half on a 30-15 tear to head into the locker room with a 50-49 lead.

The Reddies flipped the script with a 39-16 third quarter, before the Blue Tigers finished strong, outscoring them 28-18 to come out with the eight-point victory.

The Blue Tigers held a 34-21 edge in bench scoring and a 22-15 advantage on points off turnovers. The Reddies held a 54-42 edge in points in the paint and secured a 23-20 edge on second-chance points.

Haleigh Henson led Henderson State with 21 points and five assists. Dulincia Keener added 16 points.

Asia McCaskill and Jasmine Guthrie each contributed 13 points for Lincoln, while Hunter Yoakum added 12.

Lincoln will return to action Wednesday in its home opener against McKendree (1-2). Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
