3 area residents hurt in accident

Two Jefferson City residents and a Holts Summit woman were injured in a two-vehicle wreck at about 1:13 p.m. Sunday near the entrance of Westlake ACE Hardware.

The Jefferson City Police Department said a car driven by Peggy Dawdy, 74, Holts Summit, was exiting the hardware store, heading west onto Missouri Boulevard. It pulled into the path of an eastbound van in the passing lane driven by Danielle Raithel, 30, Jefferson City.

The van struck the car, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Dawdy sought treatment on her own. Raithel and passenger Lindsay Thomas were taken to a local hospital.

Thomas was the only person involved in the wreck who was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
