Holts Summit man charged in robbery, assault

A Holts Summit man charged in connection with a robbery that occurred in April in Jefferson City was recently sentenced to prison for pleading guilty to an amended charge.

Travion Reams Sr., 21, pleaded guilty to physically taking property from a victim.

He had been charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Reams was sentenced to five years in prison, and that sentence will run concurrent with all other sentences against him.

Court documents show the incident occurred at a residence in the 800 block of East McCarty Street. Reams went to the residence for a party, although he had not been invited.

The victim told Reams not to go to the upstairs area of the home, but he did so anyways. The victim interrupted Reams burglarizing his bedroom.

When the victim confronted him, Reams stepped out of the bedroom closet and struck him several times in the face with his fist, causing injuries to the victim's right eye and forehead.

Reams removed cash from the victim's pocket and fled out a back bedroom window. It was later discovered Reams used the same window to enter the residence during the party downstairs.

Witnesses saw Reams run to a residence in the 300 block of Chestnut Street. Officers went to the area and eventually took him into custody.

A search of the Chestnut residence turned up an Xbox, backpack, vehicle keys, laptop, cellphone and the money taken from the victim's pocket.

Reams claimed he was never at the party and, when confronted about being in possession of the recovered cellphone, claimed he purchased the phone and had a receipt.

Reams had an active warrant for failure to appear on a domestic assault charge from Callaway County. He has one prior arrest for burglary and one prior juvenile conviction for armed robbery/carjacking in Florida. He had been on probation for felony possession of a controlled substance in Missouri.
