Lincoln University warns of possible scam

Lincoln University is warning of a possible scam involving phone calls about an alumni directory project.

LU officials reported the problem in a news release Wednesday afternoon, saying telephone operators from an unidentified number are saying they're calling on behalf of the university to collect information for the directory.

"While the university is in the midst of such a project, these callers are in no way affiliated with PCI, the vendor handling the alumni directory updates, or the university," the school's news release said.

The LU advisory also notes neither the university "nor anyone working on its behalf" would ask for Social Security numbers or other personal information that could be used to jeopardize an identity.

"If you do receive such a call, do not share your personal information," the news release warns.

People interested in participating in, or purchasing a copy of, the official PCI alumni directory should contact LU's Office of Alumni Affairs at 573-681-5570.
