Ex-police officer pleads to stealing from evidence room

RAYTOWN, Mo. (AP) - A former Raytown police officer has pleaded guilty to stealing from the department's evidence room.

Justin Pool pleaded Thursday to three felony and two misdemeanor counts of theft. As part of his plea, he admitted he stole drugs and jewelry from the evidence room.

Pool was sentenced to two years' probation with several conditions. If Pool he doesn't meet the conditions, he faces two years in prison.

Court records show Pool once stole oxycodone pills and gold jewelry beginning in January 2013.

Pool once took a bag of pills and then replaced some of the drugs with pills that were not controlled substances.

In other thefts, Pool requested bags containing jewelry that he later returned with less-expensive items, or with the evidence missing.
