Missouri State wins baseball regional

SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State Bears claimed an NCAA Tournament regional title Sunday night with a 3-2 win against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

With the win, Missouri State (48-10) advances to host Arkansas (38-22) in a Super Regional starting later this week. Arkansas was the winner of the Stillwater, Okla., Regional, hosted by Oklahoma State.

Missouri State took the lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, then added two more in the seventh. Iowa plated two in the eighth.

Dylan Becker, Joey Hawkins and Justin Paulsen had RBI in the victory.

Jordan Knutson was the winning pitcher, working the first seven innings. He allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out five. After Sam Perez got the first out in the eighth inning, Bryan Young recorded the final five outs for the save.
