Two arrested for narcotics violations

A St. Louis man and a Jefferson City man are facing criminal charges after authorities said they were connected to numerous sales of heroin, crack cocaine and ecstasy on a regular basis in the Capital City.

Joseph Davis, 26, of St. Louis, is charged with second-degree drug trafficking, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute. As of Friday afternoon, he was being held without bond in the Cole County Jail.

Adam Wray, 50, of 806 Houchin St., was charged with selling crack cocaine and keeping a public nuisance for allowing Davis to stay at his residence and allowing the sale of narcotics to take place from there. As of Friday afternoon, he was being held in the county jail on $20,000 bond.

Court documents show the latest drug sales occurred between May 20 and 22.

On Wednesday, authorities were doing surveillance on Wray's residence when they saw Davis hide a blue latex glove under a board in the backyard next to a lawnmower.

Davis then left in a vehicle and was later arrested for outstanding narcotic sales cases.

Authorities returned to the Houchin Street residence and were given consent to search by Wray.

They found the glove that had been hidden in the backyard, and inside were four bags of heroin, three bags of crack cocaine and 100 individual ecstasy pills.
