Two injured in two-car accident

Two people were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Jefferson City.

Police reports show the accident occurred at 2:59 p.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Hess Way.

A vehicle driven by Stephanie Acheampong, 26, of Jefferson City, was going west on Hess Way, approaching Jefferson Street.

Homer Cavitte IV, 36, of Jefferson City, was going north on Jefferson Street as he approached Hess.

Acheampong failed to yield to Cavitte, and the front end of Cavitte's vehicle struck the driver's side of Acheampong's vehicle.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

• A Holts Summit woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:27 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 54 west of Route H in Callaway County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Dodge Caravan, driven eastbound by Sarah M. Coe, 33, of Holts Summit, hydroplaned and crossed the median, striking a 2007 Volvo 6670, driven westbound by Seokwon Kim, 54, of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.

Coe was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.

Kim was wearing a seat belt. It is not known if Coe was wearing a seat belt.
