Former St. Louis office manager gets prison time for fraud

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis woman has been ordered to spend a year and a day in federal prison for stealing $107,000 from her employer while she served as office manager.

Forty-four-year-old Tabitha Yansen was sentenced Tuesday in St. Louis. That's where she pleaded guilty in March to a felony count of wire fraud.

Prosecutors say that while serving as office manager for Retaining Wall Solutions, Yansen handled various payroll and financial operations for the business.

Authorities say that from August 2012 through July of last year, she falsified payroll records by representing that she had received pay increases, inflated the number of hours she worked each week and added undeserved overtime and holiday pay.
