City facade program taking applications

Jefferson City is accepting applications for the rental facade improvement program, which helps landlords with rental properties by paying for 50 percent of the improvement costs to facades of eligible buildings. The program has a limit of $5,000 per unit with an overall maximum of $10,000.

The program aims to improve the exterior appearance and condition of residential rental properties, and eligible properties include single-family or duplexes used as rental properties within the Old Town or east side districts and constructed before 1959. All exterior improvements must be significant and meet guidelines published by the Historic Preservation Commission.

Applications will be accepted through June 19. For more information, contact the Department of Planning and Protective Services at 634-6410 or download the application through the Jefferson City website at www.jeffcitymo.org/pps/documents/RentalFacadeIncentiveApp.pdf.
