Your Opinion: Response on officers' shootings

Dear Editor:

In response to Bert Dirschell's letter, "Officers lives matter."

I understand what you are saying but I know that you are not comparing 10 cops with the 422 people that have been killed by police so far this year. Not all of the cops are not bad. Ninety-nine percent are good cops but if that 99 percent is not reporting the 1 percent when they break the law (blue line) then they are just as guilty as the other officers.

The ones that do report it get ostracized by their own department and lose jobs and pensions and have no backup on the street. Therefore, yes officers' lives matter, I agree, but black people are not the majority that are shooting at police.

Quick to use percentages but if you look at real numbers blacks are not the problem. There are 2.8 eight million white violent felons in this country but only 1.2 million black violent felons! But if you view it by percentage it makes blacks look real bad. We make up 13 percent, whites make up 74 percent so that is comparing apples to oranges. Use the real numbers and then we can talk.

I just want equal justice because everyday blacks are being killed by police but mass murderers that are white are not being killed or portrayed as thugs. Colorado shooter was arrested not killed and he killed and injured over 50 people but was arrested with gun on him. Blacks do not have to have anything and they are shot so that is why we black lives matter because when we get killed we get dragged through the mud in the news and get no accountability.

Darren Wilson is a millionaire for killing a black guy. I do not think his life is ruined when he has over a million dollars in donations from people who praised him for killing an unarmed black man.
