CAMDENTON, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders led all schools while the Crusaders took fifth Saturday in the Class 4 District 5 Track and Field Championships.
Kaitlyn Shea set a school record with her time of 5:07.55 in the 1,600-meter run, besting Beth Luebbering's mark of 5:10.89 set in 1998. Shea finished second the event, and first in the 3,200-meter run. She also ran the final leg of the Lady Crusaders' first-place 4x800-meter relay team behind Kylie Frank, Lanie Hentges and Molly Light.
The Lady Crusaders also won the high jump, as Erica Haslag cleared the bar at 5-1.
Helias finished led all schools with 110 points. Camdenton and Union rounded out the top three with 83.5 and 78 points, respectively.
On the boys side, Tyler Schrimpf was the winner in the pole vault with a jump of 13-0. Helias finished fifth with 52.5 points, behind Rolla's 131, Camdenton's 104, Willard's 104 and Bolivar's 77.
The top four finishers in each event advance to Saturday's sectional at Eldon. Helias qualified in 13 girls events and six boys events.
